Overview

The financial controller, will undertake all aspects of fiscal management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures. Finance controller responsibilities will also include financial risk management, managing all finance and accounting operations, coordinating and directing the preparation of the budget for financial forecasts and report variances as well as preparing and publishing timely monthly financial statements.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances
  • Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements
  • Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting
  • Research technical accounting issues for compliance
  • Support month-end and year-end close process
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
  • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Additional controller duties as necessary
  • Issue timely and complete financial statements
  • Coordinate the preparation of the corporate annual report
  • Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations
  • Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics
  • Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts
  • Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
  • Provide for a system of management cost reports
  • Provide financial analyses as needed, for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations

Qualifications

  • Proven working experience as a Financial controller
  • 7-10+ years of experience in a Controller, or similar role
  • Proven interdepartmental cooperation experience
  • The ability to work in a team environment and act as a team player
  • Experience in a leadership/managerial role, which includes developing and mentoring an accounting team in a goal oriented environment
  • Experience in Cost Accounting
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business -Accounting, at minimum
  • CPA and public accounting experience preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
  • Experience with creating financial statements
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process
